Chief Actuary, Senior Vice President Data & Analytics: Arbella Insurance Group

Lynellen has spent the vast majority of her career with Arbella, joining the Arbella Insurance Group in 1998 as a Pricing Supervisor in the Actuarial Department. Along with taking over the leadership of the department in 2008, she became the company’s appointed actuary. Lynellen was named Chief Actuary in 2011. As Chief Actuary and SVP Data & Analytics, Lynellen is responsible for the Actuarial, Research Analytics, Data (Scientist, Analyst, Engineer and Governance) Roles. Her department focuses on rate-making, reserving, financial and statistical reporting, pricing, predictive modeling, transforming while performing (TWP – using data to automate manual processes), and implementing the organization’s Data Strategy Initiative. Under Lynellen’s leadership, the department has moved away from a traditional service-providing, technical organization to a dynamic business partner focusing on the use of data. On a daily basis, her team partners with Underwriting, Marketing, Product Development and Claims to shape the organization’s pricing strategy. Lynellen majored in Actuarial Mathematics and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bryant College. She is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Lynellen resides in Methuen, MA, with her husband, Paul. They have two children, Nicholas and Erin Leigh.
